The article is devoted to the issues of forming an environmental management system under the conditions of the innovative transformation of agro-industrial enterprises operating amid intensified climate change, resource constraints, and the digitalization of the economy. The relevance of the research topic is driven by the need for the agro-industrial sector to transition to sustainable development models that minimize environmental risks, increase resource efficiency, and integrate environmental innovations into enterprises' strategic management systems. The growing environmental vulnerability of agricultural production and the strengthening of international requirements for environmental safety of products determine the need to develop integrated adaptive environmental management systems. The study aims to substantiate the theoretical and methodological foundations for the formation of an environmental management system under the conditions of innovative transformation of agro-industrial enterprises.
The article considers modern scientific approaches to the development of environmental management, in particular the concepts of the “Triple Helix,” ecological innovation systems, digital transformation of management, and sustainable business models. It is revealed that existing approaches insufficiently account for the complex interactions among environmental, innovation, and digital factors in enterprise development. The study shows that an effective environmental management system should be integrated, adaptive, and innovation-oriented, ensuring that business processes align with the principles of sustainable development and environmental safety requirements. An approach to developing an environmental management system that combines environmental, innovation, digital, and managerial components is proposed. A system of principles for the formation of environmental management is substantiated, including the principles of environmental responsibility, innovation orientation, adaptability, digitalization, resource efficiency, circularity, preventive environmental risk management, integrated governance, stakeholder orientation, and continuous improvement.
