Abstract

The article presents a comparative analysis of entrepreneurial university models in Ukraine and Slovakia within the context of the internationalisation of higher education. It is substantiated that, under current conditions of transformation in the European Higher Education Area, internationalisation has become not an auxiliary process but a system-forming factor in university development. It contributes to improving the quality of education, strengthening academic mobility, expanding international partnerships, fostering innovation, and increasing the competitiveness of higher education institutions. The study identifies that the Ukrainian model of the entrepreneurial university is predominantly programmatic and strategic, as it is focused on human capital development, the creation of intellectual products, innovation, and the practical results of international cooperation. In contrast, the Slovak model tends toward a systemic and institutional type, where emphasis is placed on building a favourable institutional architecture, expanding university autonomy, strengthening accountability, improving management quality, and ensuring international openness. The paper reveals both common and distinctive features of entrepreneurial university development in the two countries, characterises the role of legal and strategic documents in shaping internationalisation policies, and highlights the importance of integrating international instruments into university transformation processes. It is proved that the combination of the entrepreneurial university model with internationalisation mechanisms creates a solid foundation for the modernisation of higher education systems in Ukraine and Slovakia in line with contemporary European trends and challenges.
