The article examines the impact of eco-labeling on consumer preferences and product quality. The study analyzes the role of eco-labeling as a tool for enhancing consumer trust in products, promoting responsible consumption, and improving the competitiveness of enterprises. The main types of eco-labeling according to international ISO standards are considered, highlighting their importance in ensuring product safety and implementing sustainable production practices. Key issues related to eco-labeling are identified, including greenwashing, high certification costs, and low consumer awareness, which complicate the effective functioning of this system. Special attention is paid to the absence of unified international eco-labeling standards, which creates barriers to international trade and affects consumer trust. The article also discusses the impact of eco-labeling on purchasing decisions, showing that certified products enjoy greater consumer confidence and market advantages.
To address these challenges, the article proposes directions for improving eco-labeling, including the introduction of digital technologies such as QR codes and blockchain, expanding government incentives for sustainable production, and developing a unified international certification system. The study emphasizes the need for stricter regulatory mechanisms to prevent misleading environmental claims and increase transparency in certification processes. The article provides recommendations for enhancing the effectiveness of eco-labeling as a key instrument for sustainable economic development and the formation of an environmentally responsible society. The findings contribute to the discussion on the future of eco-labeling and its role in shaping environmentally conscious consumer behavior.
