Digital Preservation
Archiving and Long-Term Preservation Policy in Open Access
The editorial board of the journal adheres to the Open Access policy. All articles are published online on a permanent and free basis immediately after the issue release. This complies with the definition of open access established by the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI).
The journal’s licensing policy is compatible with most international open access and archiving policies. The journal ensures long-term digital preservation and free access to all published materials, adhering to the principles of open access and academic integrity through the following mechanisms:
Repositories
Full-text, real-time access to all journal publications is provided via the “Archives” section on the official journal website. The archive contains all issues and individual articles without any time limitations.
In addition, the journal stores metadata and full-text articles in an institutional repository. To ensure data protection and prevent loss, the journal’s electronic archive is deposited with the V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine.
Technical Measures
All journal materials are archived in stable electronic formats to ensure their accessibility, reproducibility, and accurate citation in the future. Metadata and full-text publications can be indexed in national and international information and scientometric databases.
The journal performs regular backups of its issues and monitors the technical condition of its resources to prevent data loss, unwanted format changes, or software obsolescence.
The journal platform Open Journal Systems supports the PKP Preservation Network service, developed by the Public Knowledge Project, which is designed for the long-term digital preservation of scholarly journal content.
The PKP PN network is integrated with the LOCKSS system, which ensures decentralized and distributed storage, continuous access, and preservation of content authenticity. The PKP Preservation Network also supports long-term archiving for journals that are not part of other preservation services such as CLOCKSS or Portico.
LOCKSS is an open-source software tool developed by the Stanford University Libraries that enables libraries to preserve electronic journals. The system regularly monitors journal websites for newly published content, ensures its archiving, and verifies data integrity. In case of data corruption or loss, content can be restored from other copies.
Accessibility Guarantees
The journal uses stable file formats (PDF) to ensure the readability of scholarly content, assigns a DOI to each publication to guarantee its identification and accessibility, and complies with the standards of OpenAIRE to ensure proper indexing.
All journal materials available on the website and in specialized databases are provided in open access.
